Our story

Clayfield Farm is set on a peaceful rural location, providing an idyllic spot to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, this countryside retreat comes from humble beginnings. Purchased back in 2016, the farm and buildings were in disrepair. Completely neglected and virtually derelict, they were in desperate need of some love. Now managed by Wayne and Charlotte, they have been meticulously restored and brought back to life after years of hard work, with the farm welcoming its first guests in 2021. Wayne has used his experience as a builder and joiner to fully renovate the farm, handcraft the huts and build the new venue room with his two sons. Charlotte looks after the accommodation and bookings, ensuring guests have a fantastic experience and a memorable stay. Family history is woven through every detail on Clayfield Farm. The couple’s personal touches and antique heirlooms are dotted all around the farmhouse and cottage, adding vintage charm and transporting you to a bygone rural life.

Our surroundings

Clayfield Farm is located by the quaint market town of Pocklington, on the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds, with expansive vistas over the countryside. Morning views guarantee grazing sheep and dewy fields. The farm is home to our lovely sheep, ducks, turkeys, hens, doves and peacocks. They are all very friendly and love the company of guests. Here, you can start off the day with an adventure through picturesque hiking trails and local footpaths or, if you prefer a gentler pace, you can visit Burnby Hall and wander around its award-winning gardens. Pocklington is situated 1 mile away, where you can explore charming shops and cafes, groceries, delis, modern breweries and cosy pubs. The historical city of York is located just 14 miles away and offers a wide array of attractions and activities, from brilliant museums to awarded restaurants, boutique shops and buzzing wine bars. If you’re after a truly indulgent experience, the Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass is a short drive from the farm.
